January 1, Manafort Booted from Plane for Revoked Passport
Paul Manafort, a former adviser to President Donald Trump, was removed from an international flight because of a revoked passport.
Officials from the Miami International Airport said that Manafort, 72, was removed from a plane before it took off for Dubai.
Miami-Dade Police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said Manafort was removed from the Emirates Airline flight without incident.
Zabaleta referred further questions to the US Customs and Border Protection.
In August 2018, a jury convicted Manafort on a variety of counts including bank and tax fraud. He was sentenced to seven years in prison, but was released in December 2020 following a pardon from then-President Trump.
