Police arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly hurling two beer cans at Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) during a parade celebrating the Houston Astros’ World Series victory.
The Houston Police Department said Cruz was on a parade float on Monday when a man threw two unopened 12 oz. beers cans at the lawmaker. One of the cans struck Cruz in the “chest/neck area” but he did not require any medical attention, police said.
Video of the incident shows Cruz atop a parade float when a beer can narrowly misses his face, hitting his hand as he attempts to block the beverage.
Police said the suspect, Joseph Halm Arcidiacono, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The 33-year-old’s bond was set at $40,000 and he’s been released from custody, according to a report.
While he was being detained, Arcidiacono reportedly told officers, “I know, I’m an idiot. I’m sorry.”
The Houston man is expected to make an appearance in court on Wednesday.
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) decried the incident on Twitter.
“Don’t throw beer or commit violence against someone you politically disagree with. We are a country of voting not violence,” Swalwell tweeted.

If Ted Cruz were a Democrat, the incident would be blamed on Donald Trump and/or his supporters. Ted is a Republican and, during the Biden mis-administration, just fair game.
