January 1, ‘Let’s go BBBrandon!’: Dems Celebrate Passage of $1.75T Biden Bill
House Democrats celebrated the passing of their massive $1.75T social spending bill, and the Biden administration celebrated by referencing a phrase normally used by the president’s critics.
Principal Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates combined Build Back Better, the name of President Joe Biden’s plan, with “Let’s go Brandon” β a wildly popular euphemism typically reserved for Biden’s detractors.
“Let’s go BBBrandon!!!,” Bates tweeted, accompanied by several celebratory emojis.
“The Build Back Better Act is fiscally responsible. It reduces the deficit over the long-term. It’s fully paid for by making sure that the wealthiest Americans and biggest corporations begin to pay their fair share in federal taxes,” Biden said in a statement. “It keeps my commitment that no one earning less than $400,000 a year will pay a penny more in federal taxes.”
The commander-in-chief specifically thanked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) “and the House leadership and every House member who worked so hard and voted to pass this bill.”
The massive funding bill includes universal preschool for all 3- and 4-year-olds, a year of expanded Child Tax Credits and pandemic-era Affordable Care Act subsidies, a $35-per-month limit on the cost of insulin through Medicare, and $500 to combat climate change.
