During an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity, Kyle Rittenhouse’s mother said President Joe Biden “defamed” her son by tweeting a video suggesting that he’s a white supremacist.

“President Biden don’t know my son whatsoever, and he’s not a white supremacist. He’s not a racist. And [Biden] did that for the votes,” the mother fumed. “And I Rittenhouse’sfor a while at him and what ‘e did to m’ son, he defamed him.”

In Sept. 2020, then-presidential candidate Biden tweeted a video along with the caption, “There’s no other way to put it: the President of the United States refused to disavow white supremacists on the debate stage last night.”

The video references a question from Fox News host Chris Wallace to then-President Donald Trump, wherein he asked if Trump was willing “to condemn white supremacists and militia groups.” The video included an image of Rittenhouse wielding a semi-automatic rifle.

Rittenhouse, 18, is on trial for intentional homicide in the killings of Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, and the attempted homicide of Gaige Grosskreutz, 27, during chaotic protests in Kenosha, Wisc., over the police shooting of Jacob Blake.

Prosecutors have argued that Rittenhouse instigated the deadly violence, while the defense maintained that he acted in self-defense.

Closing arguments are expected on Monday.
