Wyatt’s Take

  • A father is alive thanks to his children’s quick thinking after a brutal highway attack.
  • The suspect was caught shortly after fleeing the scene.
  • This story shows the strong survival spirit found in American families.

A California father says his two young children saved his life after he was stabbed in a road-rage incident on State Route 67 in Lakeside. Chris Davison was attacked just after 6 p.m. when a black pickup twice forced his Jeep off the road, and the other driver stabbed him several times.

His son and daughter, just 6 and 8 years old, searched the car for anything to help. They found a phone charger cord and gave it to a motorcyclist helping their dad, and they took off their sweaters to control the bleeding. The daughter called for help until emergency workers arrived.

“She’s in a princess dress, hanging out the car, yelling for somebody to please stop. ‘Help me, help me, my daddy, he’s dying,’” Davison said.

Doctors later told Davison the wounds missed major organs, and he described his children’s actions as “heroic.”

The California Highway Patrol said the suspect, Noah Kane, forced Davison’s Jeep off the road north of Slaughterhouse Canyon and drove away after the stabbing. Kane was arrested hours later by the Border Division Major Crimes Unit. He has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges.

Davison’s injuries are non-life-threatening, but the family faces medical bills. Friends have set up a GoFundMe to support their recovery.

“I’m forever grateful that I’m here to hug and kiss them and tuck them in every night,” Davison said.

You never know what the next day may bring, but this family showed what grit and love can do when it counts. Share this story with someone who needs a little more faith in everyday folks.
