January 1, Juneteenth Mass Shooting Tragedy

Published

on

In the early hours of Sunday, an otherwise jubilant Juneteenth celebration in the small community of Willowbrook, Illinois was marred by a horrific incident. A hail of gunfire erupted, with a total of 21 individuals shot, one of them tragically losing their life. While the streets filled with screams and chaos, local deputies who were patrolling the vicinity responded swiftly to the shots.

The area, located about 21 miles west of Chicago, turned into a tragic tableau that no amount of preparation could have prevented. As of now, the motive behind this atrocity remains as unclear as the number of shooters involved. Two individuals caught in the onslaught still battle for their lives in critical condition, their futures uncertain.

In the midst of our grief, we are left to question the effectiveness of the stringent gun-control measures in Illinois. Despite a comprehensive package of restrictions, including a red flag law, an “assault weapons” ban, a “high capacity” magazine ban, a 72-hour waiting period, and a gun owner licensing requirement through the Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card system, a mass shooting still occurred.

These laws, designed to protect, seemingly failed to deter those with criminal intent. It raises the question: Are we merely disarming law-abiding citizens, leaving them defenseless against those who ignore these laws?

In the wake of this tragedy, it is time to reassess our approach. We should focus on encouraging individual responsibility and respect for firearms. Instead of hoping that broad and often ineffective gun-control measures will protect us, let’s explore ways of creating safer communities through responsible gun ownership. As the republicans we are, we value individual liberty and responsible exercise of our constitutional rights. Now, armed with knowledge, let’s use it wisely to truly make America great and safe.

We gun owners have been saying these law or rules don’t work. Yes every State has tried them. Many still trying. In my State, Rhode Island, An older Lady that call the Police 911. For an Intruder in her house. Was arrested for having a Magazine with more than 10 rounds.
Rhode Island maybe more Liberal than California (God Forgive us). These Commie Governments Want an unarmed population.
One of the MEN we sent to D.C. to represent us said “Don’t give me any of that Constitution SHIT”.
    Thank God He is gone.

The Democrats have been anti Constitution for a long time, especially the Second Amendment. Yes, they DO want a completely unarmed citizenry. People are easier to intimidate if they do not feel secure in their own persons, in their own homes and businesses. People who can defend themselves if the police are unable to are more confident, less brain-washable, and less afraid to cross the government officials who have the power to tax, to accuse of crime, to curtail access to certain areas, certain goods, and certain privileges. If only cops have guns, and cops are controlled by various government agencies, the population is helpless.

I have to add, that in my estimation, “Juneteenth” is a really stupid, really awful name for a holiday. First, it should have stayed only in Texas, which is the reason for the holiday in the first place. The Emancipation Proclamation happened much earlier, and the June 19th date is only relevant because that was when it was announced specifically to Texas inhabitants. Second, it is quite blatantly “illiterate” in its construction. It seems to me that if I were a black person, I would not want my holiday to perpetuate the impression that black people were inferior, uneducable, not able to learn proper English. That is what the word “Juneteenth” seems to imply.
