January 1, House Weighs a Game-Changing Shift Toward Multi-Year Border Security Funding

Wyatt’s Take

  • A two-step plan would fund Homeland Security through the end of President Trump’s term.
  • The House wants proof the Senate will actually finish the job before agreeing to partial bills.
  • Lawmakers are also weighing the SAVE Act to ensure only citizens vote in our elections.

Senate Republicans are finally looking to play hardball by pushing a long-term funding plan for our border agents. This strategy would secure money for ICE and CBP for up to three years instead of the usual short-term games.

Securing the border was a primary promise to the American people. Using budget tools to lock in that funding takes away the power of radical activists to slow-walk enforcement.

We also see moves to tighten tax credit enforcement and tax wealthy university endowments to pay for these priorities. This shows a real attempt to shift the burden away from working families and onto ivory tower institutions.

The House must not let this momentum slip away. A Republican majority is only useful if it actually uses its power to deliver on the kitchen-table issues that matter most to the heartland.

Wyatt Matters

Hardworking Americans are tired of seeing the border left wide open while politicians play games with the budget. Locking in three years of funding for enforcement shows a serious commitment to protecting our communities and putting citizens first.
