Newly released documents from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) reveal physical and sexual abuse incidents of unaccompanied migrant children intercepted at the US-Mexico border.

The watchdog group Judicial Watch obtained and shared 41 pages of documents with Fox News, which show 33 instances of “sexual abuse” against unaccompanied minors linked to voluntary agencies working with the federal government under contract. The incidents all occurred between Jan. 21 and Feb. 25 of 2021.

“These documents show that not only are there shocking reports of sexual abuse occurring in shelters for unaccompanied children, but that there is violence among the UACs themselves,” said Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch. “It is no surprise that Biden administration’s enabling of human trafficking has resulted in violence and the abuse of children.”

An Axios report published earlier this month showed that the Biden administration lost contact with thousands of unaccompanied migrant children.
