Wyatt’s Take

  • Liberals look the other way as Jay Jones, a Democrat AG candidate, faces no real backlash for violent rhetoric against a Republican.
  • Moms Demand Action and other leftist groups stick by their endorsement, ignoring his hateful messages.
  • Even when caught, Jones only apologizes after being exposed, not out of real remorse.

Jay Jones, Democratic candidate for Virginia attorney general, was exposed for sending messages that fantasized about murdering Republican Todd Gilbert, claiming he would put “two bullets to the head.” Moms Demand Action, a major gun control group, has kept their endorsement on his campaign page and ignored the controversy.

In the texts to GOP Delegate Carrie Coyner, Jones declared, “Spoiler: put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know and he receives both bullets every time.” Reports also say Jones wished harm upon Gilbert’s family, yet Moms Demand Action and other liberal endorsers stayed quiet.

Most supporting left-wing groups, including Planned Parenthood and big labor unions, refused to comment, refusing to withdraw their support. The only supporter responding was LGBT+ Democrats of Virginia, stating, “There’s been no reconsideration of his endorsement.” No explanation from the liberals who claim to care about violence.

Jones offered an apology only after being caught, saying, “I believe that violent rhetoric has no place in our politics,” but also blamed Trump and Republican attacks for the story going public. The double standard from gun-control activists and liberal politicians is clear: they protect their own, no matter the hypocrisy.

Why should regular folks take their so-called “gun safety” message seriously when they ignore concerns about their own candidate’s hateful talk?
