January 1, Florida GOP AG Challenges Abortion Rights Amendment for 2024 Ballot

Published

Florida’s Attorney General, a key figure in the state’s Republican leadership, has made her stance clear: she intends to challenge the proposed amendment that seeks to safeguard abortion rights from making it to the 2024 ballot.

The group, “Floridians Protecting Freedom,” has already amassed more than 400,000 signatures, just slightly below the 900,000 required to ensure a ballot presence.

This count now mandates the state’s Supreme Court to review the ballot’s language, ensuring it isn’t misleading and only addresses a single topic.

Informing the court of its obligation, Attorney General Ashley Moody declared her intent to contest the validity of the ballot’s language.

In her communication, she held back specifics but hinted that she found the language of the proposal problematic.

Florida, under the aegis of the Republican party since 1999, has witnessed significant erosion of abortion rights.

Noteworthy among the regulations are the waiting period imposition before an abortion, compulsory parental intimation for minors seeking abortion, and mandatory ultrasounds before undergoing the procedure.

Adding to the list, last year saw Governor DeSantis endorsing a law prohibiting abortions post 15 weeks, a move that’s currently undergoing judicial scrutiny.

The stakes could be raised even higher.

If the judiciary, predominantly appointed by DeSantis, validates this law, an ensuing law signed by DeSantis will drastically shorten the permissible abortion window to a mere six weeks.

To contextualize, this is typically before many women even realize they’re pregnant.

As a presidential candidate, DeSantis has openly expressed his endorsement of a national 15-week abortion ban.

Should the proposed amendment find its way to the ballot and garner the approval of a minimum of 60% of the votes, it promises to enshrine the right to an abortion, effective till the fetus achieves viability outside the womb.

Abortion is not healthcare it is murder. There are multiple ways to protect against pregnancy. Use one.

I believe that the women should have the right to decide what they want to do with their own body.

Killing is not healthcare and therefore Abortion is only going to be legalized murder. This is a twisting of the way it works. Stick an ejacqulating person into a fertal place read for a child and you are choosing to make more than wholly. They are pills, there are drugs there are condoms and lost of way to stop it but women are either too lazy or not old enough to be smart enough to make the right decisions so they chose murder because of people like the AG who has blood on her hands
People have become murderous reprobates and if you signed her petition, if you believe killing innocent child in the protect of what used to be the womb is OK you are HAMAS, You are Hitlers Mangele. If you vote yes you will be explaining it to God so think very carefully about it

Attorney General Ashley Moody your career is dead to me and she needs to be removed from the office. Pray for her Eyes to be opened, her heart changed and that she would ask God for Forgiveness as she is no Conservative, clearly no Christian and is a Reprobate RINO

“Abortion Rights” is a misnomer. Abortions don’t have rights. Unborn babies do, however.

Until it is born alive it is not a “baby”. None of the objections to abortion are rooted in reality: rather, they are rooted in people’s interpretation of mythology laid out in a book compiled and rewritten by a Roman emperor for his own benefit from the scribblings of multiple lunatics, none of which ever mention abortion at all. If you want to believe patently crazy crap about imaginary sky fairies, fine for you but keep it to yourselves and quit trying to force your stupidity on all the rest of us! The decisions are NOT YOURS TO MAKE! Believe what you want and follow those beliefs in your own lives but stop trying to impose them on the rest of us: the Constitution guarantees us freedom FROM religion (without “freedom from” you cannot possibly have “freedom of”). Leave people to exercise their own “free will” and leave it to your imaginary god to punish those he/she/it sees fit.

Doesn’t each signature need to be officially Notarized in order to be in compliance with petition rules of acceptance.
If not , then what is the protocol for signature authentication?

I was at a rest stop off I4 in Florida this 13 October 23 and there at the rest stop was a guy soliciting petition signatures for this abortion rights amendment. People from other states were using that rest stop. Anyone from any state had the opportunity to sign that petition. Unless the signatures are notarized, there is no way to validate the signatures.

Hamas just slaughtered babies in Israel. I hope and pray we are different than them. They are animals!

Another example of right-wing fascists wanting to ignore the will of the voters.
