January 1, Florida Democrats Face Unexpected Turmoil After Former Rep’s Defiant Return

Wyatt’s Take

  • Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick resigned to avoid expulsion after ethics findings.
  • She is accused of using $5 million in FEMA disaster aid for her campaign.
  • Despite facing 25 ethics violations, she filed for reelection this week.

A Florida Democrat who quit just minutes before her own expulsion is now trying to waltz back into her old seat.

This is the kind of DC swamp behavior that makes folks in Middle America lose all faith in the system.

The House Ethics Committee spent two years digging through 33,000 documents and interviewing dozens of witnesses before concluding she was guilty.

Cherfilus-McCormick stepped down a half hour before the hammer was set to fall.

“The panel had previously found her guilty of 25 ethics violations, including allegedly stealing $5 million dollars in federal disaster-aid funds used to bolster her 2021 campaign as well as campaign-finance violations.”

While she waits for a 2027 trial date on criminal charges, she thinks she deserves your vote.

It’s the ultimate insult to every hardworking taxpayer who follows the rules while politicians treat the treasury like a personal piggy bank.

Florida officials are now deciding when to hold a special election to fill the vacancy.

It remains to be seen if voters will reward this kind of blatant entitlement and corruption.

Wyatt Matters

Our government should be a place for public service, not a hideout for people dodging the law. When a politician steals disaster relief money meant for families in need, they should face justice, not get rewarded with another campaign.

Clearly Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick is jealous of the Minnesota Democrats who stole billions with no repercussions. She wants a bigger slice of the corruption pie and is counting on low IQ voters to give her second chance to steal more.
