Comedian George Lopez cut his sold-out show at Eagle Mountain Casino in Porterville, California, short on Friday, sparking mixed reactions on social media. The 63-year-old star left the stage about 30 minutes before his set was scheduled to end after being heckled by several audience members.

The official casino account stated in a Facebook post, “Tonight George Lopez let down his fans and sold-out audience by walking out and ending his show 30 minutes early.” They added that Lopez hired his own private security that could have easily escorted any hecklers out.

The post mentioned a pre-show meeting to have a plan in place for hecklers. The casino went above and beyond to provide first-class service to Lopez. The venue’s post concluded, “We never want to let our guests down and we are as disappointed and shocked as you are.”

Social media users claimed that only a few hecklers were present. One Facebook user commented, “It was not like he had 100 people heckling him.” They added that people were just yelling their love for Lopez and making references to old jokes.

Fans expressed disappointment, especially since the show had already been rescheduled from April following Lopez’s medical emergency.

A spokesperson for Lopez told TMZ that the audience was overserved and unruly. They said the casino staff was unable to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for the artist and guests. The spokesperson added that George’s personal security team worked with the venue security staff to maintain order, ensure safety, and eject disruptive individuals, but the casino security team was inadequate for the task. They concluded, “George is not obligated to perform in an unsafe environment. He feels badly that those who came to see the show were unable to do so as a result.”
