Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is set to purchase Twitter for $44 billion, which some say could change the social media landscape as we know it.

Musk opened up about his decision during an interview at TED 2022.

“I just think it’s important to the function of democracy,” Musk said.

“It’s important to the function of the United States as a free country, and many other countries. And actually to help freedom in the world, more broadly than the US. The civilizational risk is decreased the more we can increase the trust of Twitter as a public platform.”

Additionally, Musk said that his goal with Twitter is to forge a “public platform that is maximally trusted and broadly inclusive.”

“If I acquire Twitter and something goes wrong, it’s my fault — 100%. I think there will be quite a few errors,” he said. “I hope it’s not too miserable.”

Right before he bought Twitter, Elon Musk said he didn’t want to buy the company and called it ‘a recipe for misery.’ Here’s what changed.

If ONLY we WERE a DEMOCRACY.
We’re a REPUBLIC. Just proves money doesn’t buy intelligence.
