  • Grand jury digs into Letitia James’ actions against Trump.
  • Possible civil rights violations are under scrutiny.
  • Accusations of justice being used as a political weapon.

The Department of Justice has launched a grand jury investigation into New York Attorney General Letitia James. The focus is on her handling of lawsuits targeting Donald Trump before the 2024 election and possible civil rights violations.

Subpoenas were reportedly sent to James’ office this week, demanding documents about her civil fraud lawsuit against Trump and a case involving the National Rifle Association. “The investigation is being run out of Albany, New York, and focused on possible deprivation of rights allegations,” a source explained.

Letitia James had previously sued Trump, accusing him of misleading banks and insurers about his finances. “None of the parties involved claimed to have been injured.” After a trial held without a jury, Judge Arthur Engoron ordered Trump to pay a $454 million penalty in February 2024. Trump appealed, posting a $175 million appeal bond.

A representative from James’ office criticized the reported federal investigation, calling it a “weaponization of the justice system.”

The DOJ probe appears separate from another controversy this year. Reports say a federal housing official accused James of falsifying records to get a home loan in Virginia while serving in New York. This came just before her high-profile legal case against Trump.

America First Legal also filed a bar complaint against James regarding these allegations.

Some judges are openly questioning the fairness of the hefty penalty in Trump’s civil fraud case, noting that “no one lost any money.”

Stay tuned as this story unfolds and more truth comes to light.

This investigation reflects how many in Middle America are losing faith in the justice system as a political tool. People want fairness, not another power-play against folks they vote for.
