January 1, Disney Apologizes After Employee Ruins Marriage Proposal

Disney has apologized to a couple after one of its theme park employees ruined their dream marriage proposal.

A Disney spokesperson said that the incident took place at Disneyland Paris, on a platform with the Sleeping Beauty Castle perfectly in the background.

A now-viral video posted on Reddit shows a man dropping to one knee on the platform and holding a ring up to his girlfriend. At that point, a male employee quickly runs between the couple and grabs the ring box out of the man’s hand. Onlookers booed the employee for interrupting the couple’s moment.

“We regret how this was handled,” the Disney spokesperson said. “We have apologized to the couple involved and offered to make it right.”

The man’s friend, who posted the video, said his friend had asked a female employee for permission to propose on the platform.

“The woman gave him permission, [then] this POS ran up to him and [grabbed] the ring,” he wrote in a comment on Reddit.
