January 1, DeWine Faces Backlash Over Migrant Support and Controversial Ties
Republican Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine is once again tangling with controversy, as his actions suggest a deep entanglement with personal interests and a liberal agenda that leaves many Ohioans questioning his priorities.
In a surprising move, DeWine recently announced support for the influx of Haitian migrants into Springfield, according to Spectrum News. This comes on the heels of his long-standing connections to a charity in Haiti, established in the memory of his daughter Becky DeWine who tragically passed away in a car accident. The DeWine Family Foundation Inc. handed out a hefty $400,000 grant to “Hands Together,” a group dedicated to building a school in Haiti, a cause the DeWines have been intimately involved with for decades.
DeWine’s support for migrants has not gone unnoticed. He has openly supported the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program that allowed many Haitian migrants into the U.S., reinforcing his alignment with the liberal open borders agenda. “I’m not against this program,” the governor stated repeatedly, emphasizing his stance while conveniently sidestepping the cries of help from Ohio citizens grappling with this sudden surge.
Springfield, a small city of about 60,000, has now seen an overwhelming influx of 20,000 Haitian migrants within a few years. Critics argue that this is a betrayal of Ohio’s working-class citizens, as DeWine seems more focused on accommodating migrants rather than addressing the needs of the local population.
When it comes to prioritizing the interests of Ohioans, DeWine’s record is rather patchy. His office faced major scrutiny last year after the catastrophic Norfolk Southern train derailment in East Palestine, which polluted the town with hazardous chemicals. Notably, Norfolk Southern had contributed $10,000 to DeWine just a month prior to the disaster, raising questions about the governor’s potential conflicts of interest. This is further complicated by Northern Southern’s ongoing donations since DeWine’s first gubernatorial campaign, with the railroad giant lobbying against stricter safety regulations.
DeWine’s ties to controversial social issues don’t stop there. He’s received thousands in political donations from groups that oppose bans on transgender treatments for minors. Among the donors are heavyweights like the Ohio Children’s Hospital Association and other children’s hospitals that promote “gender-affirming care,” a euphemism for sex change procedures on minors. The governor vetoed HB 68 in 2023, a bill aimed at banning such procedures for minors and barring biological males from competing in women’s sports.
It doesn’t end there. Despite President Trump’s executive order requiring state consent for refugee resettlement, DeWine signaled that Ohio would keep its doors open to refugees, aligning himself once again with the leftists. This decision coincided with his eagerness to bring in big businesses, promising them a labor force large enough to overlook the struggles of his own opioid-addicted, economically-ravaged citizens.
The series of actions and decisions made by Governor DeWine raises serious concerns about where his true loyalties lie. Ohioans are left to wonder if their governor is more committed to support from out-of-state interests than to the well-being of his own constituents.

First, 60,000 is closer to 50,000, and 20,000 is closer to 30,000. His charity is in Haiti, not Ohio. It’s not his first, last,or only screw-up, but it’s his last on a public paycheck.

Dewine is not fit to be Governor any longer. He never was. At best, he was a RINO. He is clearly as deranged as the rest of the Democrat party. Compromised by his own selfish greed.
