Liberal group Third Way is warning Democrats to stop using fancy woke language, saying regular folks just don’t talk that way. This advice comes as Democrats try to fix their image after recent tough losses at the polls.

  • Third Way listed 45 buzzwords Democrats should ditch to seem less out of touch.
  • The group claimed words like “privilege,” “microaggression,” and “cisgender” make Democrats seem elite.
  • Democrats lost millions of voters while Republicans gained ground heading into midterms.

The memo says lots of Democrat language sounds extreme and doesn’t match how blue-collar Americans speak.

“No ordinary person would ever dream of” talking this way, the memo claimed. They argue voters might think Democrats are hiding extreme ideas behind confusing words. The group broke down categories like “Therapy-Speak,” warning words such as “triggering,” “dialoguing,” and “environmental violence” make Democrats sound like they’re lecturing everyone else.

“We are doing our best to get Democrats to talk like normal people and stop talking like they’re leading a seminar at Antioch,” said Matt Bennett from Third Way. He admits voters see Democrats as lecturing or out of touch. Even some in their own party say it’s time to “just be normal again.”

Lanae Erickson from Third Way complained, “People can’t relate to something unless it has some edge about it. And we had shaved off all of our edges in an attempt to never make anyone upset about anything.”

A new report shows Democrats lost about 2.1 million registered voters since 2020, while Republicans picked up 2.4 million. These numbers add to worries about how out-of-touch language might hurt Democrats come Election Day.
