January 1, DC Jury Lets Six Democrats Off The Hook

Wyatt’s Take

  • D.C. grand jury refused to indict six Democrats accused of sedition for urging soldiers to ignore Trump’s orders.
  • Federal prosecutors said their comments hurt military discipline, but jurors disagreed.
  • Senator Mark Kelly faces pay cuts and a demotion, and is fighting it in court.

In Washington, D.C., a grand jury shot down the Trump administration’s push to bring charges against six Democratic lawmakers. They had told military members to ignore orders from President Trump if they thought those orders broke the law.

The Department of Justice wanted charges for Representatives Jason Crow, Chris Deluzio, Chrissy Houlahan, Maggie Goodlander, and Senators Mark Kelly and Elissa Slotkin.

Jurors in D.C., where most voters backed Kamala Harris in 2024, didn’t buy the prosecution’s case. Prosecutors claimed the Democrats’ advice threatened the discipline and loyalty of our armed forces.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth acted anyway—he docked Kelly’s retirement pay, removed him from his post, and criticized him for “reckless conduct.”

“These actions are based on Captain Kelly’s public statements from June through December 2025 in which he characterized lawful military operations as illegal and counseled members of the Armed Forces to refuse lawful orders,” Hegseth said.

Kelly isn’t letting it slide; he’s taking the matter to court.

Stay informed and stand up for the truth—don’t let D.C. insiders shape the story for you.
