Wyatt’s Take

  • Two 15-year-olds charged in a violent D.C. carjacking are out of detention.
  • Authorities say they attacked a former Trump staffer during the crime.
  • Locals worry soft-on-crime policies put law-abiding folks in danger.

After a brutal attempted carjacking in Dupont Circle left a former Trump administration staffer injured, two 15-year-old suspects have been released from detention. The boy is now in a youth shelter, and the girl was placed with a parent, facing strict rules like electronic monitoring and a 24-hour curfew.

About ten other youths ran away from the scene, leaving only these two arrested by police. Photos show Edward Coristine, the staffer, bloodied after stepping in to help a woman attacked by the group.

Prosecutors didn’t want the teens released, saying the girl has another case in Maryland and is a danger to others. “They are not afraid of Law Enforcement because they know nothing ever happens to them, but it’s going to happen now!”

Officials admit most juvenile suspects in D.C. are back on the streets before their trials. President Trump sent in federal law enforcement and federalized local police after this attack, warning about young criminals growing bolder.

Police say youths commit about half of robberies and most carjackings in D.C. Chronic skipping of school is also blamed for the uptick in youth crime.

Are we supposed to sit back while lenient laws let dangerous teens walk free? This isn’t just politics—it’s about keeping our neighborhoods safe and standing up for honest families who follow the rules.
