Wyatt’s Take

  • Hillary Clinton gave rare praise to the Trump administration for their work on the Israel-Hamas peace deal.
  • Both Clinton and Condoleezza Rice acknowledged this agreement as a positive but stressed challenges remain.
  • The first phase of the deal is underway, focusing on stability and future reforms.

Hillary Clinton surprised many by commending Trump and his team for brokering a peace plan between Israel and Hamas.

“It’s a really significant first step and I really commend Trump and his administration as well as Arab leaders in the region for making the commitment to the 20-point plan and seeing a path forward for what’s often called the day after,” Clinton said in an interview.

Condoleezza Rice also recognized the achievement but cautioned that the Palestinian authority still needs real reform and fresh leadership.

“The one piece that I’m most concerned about is, how do you get from a kind of transitional authority of some kind, a truly representative Palestinian authority?” Rice noted. “The Palestinian authority, which controls the West Bank, lost control of Gaza after 2006, has not really been reformed in a long time. And it needs reform. It needs younger blood.”

The deal’s first phase is being put into action now, laying the groundwork for more progress and possible regional stability.
