A Canadian fan at the FIBA Women’s World Cup took her shot at President Donald Trump with a homemade sign. She flipped the cardboard back and forth to show both sides of her message.

“Lake America?” one side read in blue marker. The other side shot back “Lake Ontario!!” in bright red.

The protest happened during Team USA’s game against China in a tournament hosted on Canadian soil. It came right after Trump’s executive order changing the name of the shared Great Lake.

Trump’s order also declared the United States the greatest protector of all the Great Lakes. He pointed to the security and investment America provides to keep the waters open for shipping, recreation, and responsible use.

“The Lake of America was something I’ve been thinking about for a long time, actually. As you know, we took something called the Gulf of Mexico — we changed it — and now it’s very routinely the Gulf of America,” Trump said in the Oval Office last month.

The name change is part of an ongoing trade fight with Canada. Trump directed Interior Secretary Doug Burgum to update all federal maps and records with the new name.

Team USA didn’t let the Canadian protest slow them down. They opened the tournament with a 94-61 win over China.

Caitlin Clark led the way in her first senior international game with 14 points and 11 assists. Paige Bueckers and Rhyne Howard also scored 14 points each in the blowout victory.
