January 1, Burger King Assistant Manager Arrested for Serving “Trash Fries” to Customers

A fast-food scandal erupted in South Carolina after a Burger King assistant manager was arrested and charged with serving customers French fries that had allegedly come straight from the trash.

Jaime Christine Major, 39, now faces felony charges for tampering with food, which could land her behind bars for up to 20 years if convicted.

Major is accused of taking fries from the trash, adding them to a container where fresh fries were placed, and then covering them with newly cooked fries.

The initial report came on July 9, when Union Police Department responded to a disturbance at the fast-food outlet, as per Fox Carolina.

Upon their arrival, the police found two women engaged in a heated argument with the restaurant staff.

They were screaming, making threats, and using profanity, police revealed.

Despite officers’ requests to calm down, the women remained agitated and were subsequently arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

However, the drama did not end there.

Two days later, Burger King’s headquarters reportedly contacted the police, informing them that Major had been serving customers fries from the trash can.

Following an investigation, a warrant was issued for Major’s arrest.

If convicted, she could face severe penalties, as tampering with food is considered a felony in South Carolina.

Under state law, she could face up to 20 years in prison.

The situation took another serious turn when a judge set her bond at a hefty $20,000.

As of Tuesday, Major remained in custody at the Union County Detention Center, as reported by The State.

Bottom Line

This disturbing incident puts a spotlight on the importance of health and safety measures within the food industry. It underscores the serious implications of any deviations from accepted hygiene practices.

As this case continues to unfold, customers and restaurant chains alike will undoubtedly be taking a closer look at their own standards to ensure such an egregious violation does not occur within their own establishments.

BK changed their fries about 25-26 years ago, I have never eaten them since, they used to be the same as McDonalds which are some of the best, but they changed to a batter covered gross French fry, so probably couldn’t tell the difference if from the garbage.
