Jacob Albarado, a Border Patrol agent, shared the harrowing details behind his rushing to Robb Elementary School to save his wife and daughter during the deadly mass shooting last week.

Albarado discussed his experience during an appearance on NBC’s Today. His wife, a fourth-grade teacher at the elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, sent him a text message that said, “There’s an active shooter. Help. I love you.”

His wife and daughter ultimately survived the attack.

Albarado said he raced to Robb Elementary School, describing the scene outside as “chaos. Chaos. Everyone was trying to get to the school, people were trying to get everything situated, I was just trying to get toward my wife’s room and my daughter’s room.”

The local police have been under scrutiny for their response to the shooting after it was revealed that officers waited more than an hour to enter the school.

“To me, I believe everyone there was doing the best that they could given the circumstances,” Albarado said.

I PRAISE THE BORDER PATROL OFFICER. I DON’T WANT TO SMEAR THE POLICE THAT WERE THERE, BUT WITH A ACTIVE SHOOTER IN SIDE THEY SHOULD OF NOT WASTED ANY TIME TO ENTER THE BUILDING AND SECURE THE SITUATION. SOUNDS LIKE A BAD DECISION WAS MADE AND CAUSED ALL THOSE DEATHS
