January 1, Biden Aides ‘Tapped Out’

Amid a string of staff departures and a sinking administration approval rating, President Joe Biden’s aides are reportedly “tapped out.”

A senior administration official told The Hill that many aides are “tapped out.”

“It’s been a long few years,” the official said, according to the outlet. “The burnout is real. It might not be the ideal time to leave with everything going on, but it’s the right time.”

One Democratic strategist said that while staff turnover 18 months into an administration is typical, it comes at a difficult time ahead of the midterm elections.

“Given the complex challenges that the administration is facing, these departures are coming at an inopportune time,” said Joel Payne, a Democratic strategist.

But some view the string of departures as a tricky situation for the Biden administration as they battle high gas prices and inflation.

“It doesn’t look good,” one strategist told the outlet. “The perception from the outside is that it’s not the place you want to be. There’s a lot of finger-pointing going around right now. It doesn’t seem like it’s humming the way it should be.”
