Wyatt’s Take

  • A recent attack by an Afghan admitted under Biden’s program has led to questions about vetting.
  • Federal reports say Biden officials let in Afghans without proper checks or real identification verification.
  • Homeland Security admits many Afghans entered the U.S. with little or no vetting at all.

After a deadly shooting by an Afghan who entered under a Biden-era policy, President Trump halted asylum and visa programs for Afghans. The suspect was let in through the rushed post-withdrawal process, which critics now say lacked serious checks.

The media claim these refugees were “vetted,” yet federal reports show basic steps were skipped. Staff often couldn’t spot fake documents, and sometimes checked no information at all if none was available.

According to one report, most processing staff were not trained to recognize phony Afghan documents. Even Afghans without paperwork were allowed in unless they had negative biometric records.

The Homeland Security Committee found screening was often no more than a visual check. Many Afghans’ data was incomplete or just made up, like assigning random birthdays because nobody knew their real one.

Officials disagreed on where and how the vetting was done. Some thought it happened after arrival, others said it was handled before the evacuees reached the U.S.

The same loose process was used for anyone, whether or not they had worked for America. Later, Homeland Security’s own inspector general reported that many were not truly vetted and that missing information was common.

There’s now official admission that some people could be a risk to Americans, as the government didn’t have critical data. This doesn’t look anything like the “rigorous vetting” the press described—it looks like rolling the dice.
