  • Sasse shares faith and determination despite grim diagnosis.
  • Conservative leaders show support and prayers for him.

Ben Sasse, once a Nebraska Senator, shared he has stage-four pancreatic cancer and isn’t backing down from this fight.

He emphasized faith and family, mentioning the tough conversations he’s had with loved ones.

“Advanced pancreatic is nasty stuff; it’s a death sentence,” Sasse posted. He showed hope in his faith, writing, “hope in a real Deliverer — a rescuing God, born at a real time, in a real place.”

Sasse spoke about the difference between real hope and just plain optimism, warning against vague or empty spirit.

“It’s not the kinda thing that holds up when you tell your daughters you’re not going to walk them down the aisle. Nor telling your mom and pops they’re gonna bury their son,” he wrote.

He plans to share more about his journey, trusting both faith and science, especially new advances in cancer treatment, as he moves forward.

Many conservatives and public leaders, including Jay Bhattacharya and Vice President J.D. Vance, responded with prayers and support for Sasse.
