January 1, Barron Trump: Youngest Delegate for Florida GOP at RNC Convention
Barron Trump, Donald Trump’s youngest son, is taking his first steps into politics at 18 years old. According to NBC News, he was chosen by the Florida Republican Party to be one of the state’s at-large delegates for the Republican National Convention.
The soon-to-be high school graduate is following in the footsteps of his older siblings, Don Jr., Eric, Ivanka, and Tiffany, who are all involved in Republican politics. It has been reported that Don Jr., Eric, and Tiffany will also be among the 41 RNC delegates from Florida.
A Trump campaign official told ABC News that Barron is “on the delegation roster and … is very interested in our nation’s political process.”
Florida GOP Chair Evan Power expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming convention in Milwaukee, saying, “The (Republican Party of Florida) is ready for a great convention in Milwaukee, but more importantly, we are excited as we continue to lay the groundwork in Florida for success. Mark my words, we are going to win and we will win big in November!”
Barron recently made headlines during his father’s hush-money trial in New York. Trump’s lawyers requested Judge Juan Merchan to allow their client a day off to attend his son’s graduation ceremony, which is scheduled for Friday, May 17. Judge Merchan granted the request.
As the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Trump is currently tied up in a Manhattan courtroom four days a week, campaigning for the White House. His multiple civil and criminal trials have also affected his children.
In Trump’s New York civil business fraud case, Don Jr., Eric, and Ivanka all testified last year. The New York Democratic Attorney General sought punishment for Trump and his organization for allegedly inflating his net worth and financial statements. Don Jr. and Eric currently run the Trump Organization, while Ivanka left her leadership position to join her father in the White House as an advisor.
The RNC National Convention is set to take place from July 15-18 in Milwaukee.
