Wyatt’s Take

  • Another big city rattled by gunfire, this time with a child caught in the middle.
  • Police rushed in, but the shooter is still on the loose and families are left shaken.
  • Violence hits home when innocent people, especially kids, get hurt for no reason.

Six folks got hurt Saturday night in Baltimore after someone started shooting outside.

This violence is even worse because a 5-year-old was one of the people shot in the hand.

Police showed up just before 9 p.m. after calls about gunfire near Spaulding and Queensberry Avenues.

Commissioner Richard Worley said officers found four men and two women wounded, with one of the men, age 38, in critical condition and needing surgery.

“The child’s injury does not appear to be serious.”

The others, including the little girl, a 23-year-old woman, and men aged 32, 33, and 52, will recover, Worley said.

Police say people were just outside when someone opened fire.

No one has been arrested yet, and homicide detectives are working the case.

If families can’t even gather outside, something’s wrong.

These headlines keep hitting home, and communities want real answers, not just another investigation.

Wyatt Matters

When violence takes aim at neighborhoods, especially where kids live and play, it strikes at the heart of what matters.

Folks in Middle America know we need leaders who fight for safe communities and families looking out for each other.
