January 1, Australian TikToker Faces Backlash Over Criticism of US Patriotism: “Too Many American Flags”
The robust American spirit, symbolized by the ubiquitous stars and stripes, recently drew criticism from an unlikely source: an Australian TikToker touring the US.
However, her sentiments were met with a forceful patriotic backlash, leading her to deactivate her online presence.
While exploring suburban neighborhoods in the US, TikToker Mia Chloe voiced her grievances about the prevalence of American flags, remarking, “I’m just gonna say it … there are too many American flags.”
She also pointed out that, in her travels, the US stood out as the sole nation that adorned virtually everything with its national flag, observing, “They’re on houses, they’re on cars … saw them on couch cushions.”
Contrastingly, Chloe confessed her unfamiliarity with her own country’s flag, admitting, “The only time I’ve seen an Australian flag is on the [Sydney] Harbour Bridge … could not tell you what it looks like.”
The omnipresence of Old Glory in America left an impression, as she stated she could now “draw the American flag from memory.”
However, her parting remark, “Let’s stay humble,” did not sit well with numerous Americans.
The Aussie TikToker faced a barrage of disapproval, most notably from Texas Governor Greg Abbott who tersely retorted, “Go back to Australia,” in a retweet of her now-deleted video.
The video garnered considerable traction after its deletion, having been re-shared by multiple Twitter users.
Chloe’s critique of American patriotism saw a multitude of reactions, with users defending the pride and significance associated with the American flag.
One user sarcastically quipped, “Too much America in America. I don’t get it.”
Another, emphasizing the pride inherent to the country, commented, “Yes, we are proud to be an exceptional nation. As evidence, I present the fact that she, a hater, still spent time and money to visit. LOL.”
Yet another added, “If she only knew the significance of that flag.”
Alluding to Texas’s own sense of pride in its state flag, one user remarked, “Wait till she visits Texas and sees all our flags.”
Surprisingly, among the sea of responses was an alleged fellow Australian, @AussieOverLawd, who countered Chloe’s sentiment by saying, “As an Aussie who just spent two weeks in Texas, I found the presence of the flags inspiring. I wish we had that kind of patriotism back home.”
According to Fox News, this isn’t Chloe’s first clash with American culture.
She previously expressed frustration about the layout of American supermarkets from within a Walmart and labeled Kansas as an “unlivable” state, citing its unpredictable weather.

Your country was settled by prisoners of the State as punishment, nothing fought for, no deaths of sacrifice for freedom. Also, you should be ashamed of yourself for not knowing the specifics of your own National flag!
The United States was settled by fee-paying immigrants who fought not only for their very survival but fought indigenous ppls and Nationals from many European countries who all valued the rich opportunities and personal and business freedoms offered by the bounties of the natural resources in the USA. The USA also fought against monarchies and slavery to ensure freedom opportunities for all ppl. These things make one take great pride in our National flag.

Those tourists who are annoyed that there are too many American flags in America should go to Iran or Iraq, for example, where it will be life-threatening for them to get annoyed, but there they will not see a single American flag.

To possibly paraphrase a line from the song ‘God Bless America’ by Lee Greenwood, “I’m glad I live in America where at least I know I’m free.” How free are you in Australia? You sound more like a communist-loving satanist. As per the above, go back to Australia and learn some history about your own country. Oh, and by the way, before you travel to any other country including America, study up on its history. Show the world you actually have a brain!
