Activist Interrupts French Open Semifinals
The French Open Grand Slam tennis tournament was interrupted when an activist ran onto the court.
Marin Cilic and Casper Rudd were competing in the men’s semifinal round when a climate activist attached herself to the net and kneeled on the court. She wore a T-shirt with the words “We have 1028 days left.”
The competition came to a halt for more than 10 minutes. Both players left the court while the protestor was carried away by four security guards.
Both players eventually returned, getting three minutes to warm up before resuming their semifinal round.
