Wow, President Biden just commuted jail sentences for nearly 1,500 people and granted 39 pardons. That’s a lot of folks let off the hook all at once! The White House says these folks were already on home confinement and doing well in their communities. The 39 people getting pardons were said to have non-violent crimes. But guess what? They didn’t tell us who these people are!

The White House is boasting that Biden has granted more commutations at this point in his presidency than any recent presidents in their first terms. And he’s saying he’ll do even more pardons before his time is up. He’s talking about giving people what he calls “second chances.”

Of course, this comes right after he gave a big pardon to his son, Hunter, who got in trouble for gun and tax charges. Biden had promised, over and over, that he wouldn’t step in for Hunter, but then, he changed his mind. Lots of folks, including both Democrats and Republicans, aren’t happy about this. A poll showed only 2 out of 10 Americans thought the pardon for Hunter was a good idea.

Hunter got in trouble earlier this year, admitting he didn’t pay his taxes and lying about not using drugs when buying a gun. Biden says his son was only targeted because he’s “my son,” like it was a plot to get to the President himself.

Reporters were all over the White House press secretary, asking if President Biden lied to the American people about not getting involved with Hunter’s case. But the response was that President Biden always tells the truth, just look at his statement.
