Wyatt’s Take

  • Bad Bunny delivered a political message during the Super Bowl Halftime show.
  • Most of the performance was in Spanish, which upset many viewers.
  • The show’s focus on immigration drew sharp rebuke from conservative voices.

This year’s Super Bowl Halftime show stirred up a hornet’s nest across the country. Bad Bunny took center stage and used his performance as a platform, closing with a message in support of immigration written on a football.

The show had a heavy Latin flavor, featuring tropical scenery and performances by Ricky Martin and Lady Gaga. All songs were performed in Spanish. Many football fans sounded off that they couldn’t understand a word of it.

Just before walking off, Bad Bunny held up a football that read, “Together we are America.” Conservatives saw this message as another push for open borders and a swipe at tough immigration enforcement.

President Trump tore into the event on Truth Social, writing:

“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World.”

Other commentators piled on. Matt Walsh argued that putting on a halftime show in a language fans don’t speak was an insult. Clay Travis pointed out that no other country would have its biggest event in a foreign language and said he couldn’t make sense of it.

The decision to spotlight Spanish-language performance and immigration themes left a lot of Americans scratching their heads and feeling left out of their own national event.

If you’re fed up with out-of-touch Hollywood messages during our favorite American games, make your voice heard. Stand up for the values that hold our communities together.

How was it totally American, if it was all in Spanish? Come to the USA and learn English if you want to stay through legal immigration.

“Come to the USA and learn English if you want to stay through legal immigration.“ The singer was born and raised in the USA, is entirely American(US citizen through and through), and has pretty much always sung in Spanish. FYI, for well over 200 years, English has NOT been the “official language of the USA”. The end football is also a good reminder that on most cruise ships the US employees are NOT supposed to answer a customer “America” when asked where are you from, specifically because the US is one small part of America, it isn’t America.

The NFL half-time show was a complete waste of time and air-space; the bunny isn’t bad, it;s RETARDED and UN-American. Add to that the gag-a-maggot from the UK (she is NO lady) and the show was anti-American and enough to make you vomit.

I don’t understand the NFL wanting to insult the vast number of American citizens by having a half time show in a foreign language. I passed on the whole Super Bowl just because of that.

“don’t understand the NFL wanting to insult the vast number of American citizens” They did no such thing, thanks 😁. They wanted the halftime show to feature the artist who had more verifiable streams than any other artist in the world in the previous year. I’m sure they didn’t notice your lack of watching.
