The offspring of famed Creedence Clearwater Revival drummer Doug Clifford, Brent Clifford, is currently in police custody, charged with the untimely and tragic murder of his girlfriend, whose remains were discovered this week off a Nevada highway, as per law enforcement and news outlets.

Brent Clifford is now facing a serious murder charge after the supposed remains of 48-year-old Patricia Portella-Wright were discovered off Mt. Rose Highway in Washoe County, Nevada last Thursday. The unsettling twist is that he is also a person of interest in another homicide case in Reno, as per the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

“There is evident foul play involved,” announced Placer County Sgt. David Smith this past Thursday in connection to Portella-Wright’s case. He added that the investigative team has been “relentlessly working over the past week to provide closure to Patricia’s grieving family and track down Patricia’s body.”

Brent Clifford’s lineage has been linked to Doug Clifford, a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band Creedence Clearwater Revival, reports TMZ, citing public records.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office disclosed that Patricia Portella-Wright, hailing from Kings Beach, California, was last spotted on the morning of Sunday, Aug. 4, before her missing report was filed this past Friday.

“We managed to obtain crucial information during the investigation that led us to the area of Mt. Rose Highway. With the help of a drone, we succeeded in locating the body of a female down a steep embankment,” the sheriff’s office shared on a Facebook post this past Thursday.

“Our investigation subsequently identified her boyfriend, Brent Clifford, as a person of interest in her disappearance. On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, Clifford was apprehended in Portola, California. He is currently being held in the Placer County jail on a murder charge,” they further stated.

As for what prompted this purported killing, the reason remains shrouded in mystery.

Jail records indicated that as of Friday morning, the 55-year-old Clifford is being held without the option of posting bail.

According to the Reno Police Department, Brent Clifford is a person of interest in a separate Reno homicide case. The male victim in this case was found on the morning of Sunday, August 11th, with the red 2003 Chevrolet Blazer, that belonged to the victim of the homicide. It was located in the same area where Clifford was taken into custody in Portola.”

At this time, investigators are anxiously waiting for the Washoe County Coroner’s Office to verify the identity of the remains.
