January 1, Melania Film Defies Critics Rakes In Millions

Wyatt’s Take

  • Melania Trump’s film beat box office predictions with over $7 million in ticket sales.
  • Audiences loved it, but liberal critics panned it as ‘propaganda.’
  • The South and rural America showed the strongest support for the film.

Amazon MGM Studios took a risk with ‘Melania,’ and it paid off. The documentary pulled in $7.04 million its first weekend, far outpacing what Hollywood insiders expected.

Instead of following critics, regular folks across the South and heartland showed up strong. Nearly half the debut sales came from rural theaters, and Florida and Texas led the way.

“It wasn’t about getting rich. I mean, I think the Trumps are wealthy and successful enough. This is about giving me the ability to hire the best crew in the world, to not only score the film with the best composer … I mean, when you see the movie, you’ll go, ‘Oh, we see where the money went now.’ This wasn’t about corruption. Melania only cared about one thing – making a great movie for audiences,” Ratner said.

Critics slammed the movie and gave it a 10% score, but everyday viewers pushed its audience score to nearly 99%. Polls showed that 89% would ‘definitely recommend’ watching.

Most ticket buyers were women over 55, drawn by the film’s focus on detail and heart. Despite its big opening, the film faces a tough road to cover the $75 million Amazon poured in.

Studio leaders are hopeful that future streaming and docuseries will bring in more viewers. Some critics claim politics played a role in the production, but the numbers show Middle America turned out in force.

If you want to see the divide between the media elite and working folks, this box office story spells it out plain as day.

Wyatt Matters

This film’s success proves working Americans still decide what matters—not critics. Heartland values and real stories can beat out media spin and bias every time.
