January 1, Legendary Jackson 5 Singer Passes at 70 Leaving a Legacy of Love and Music
Tito Jackson, a cornerstone of the legendary Jackson 5, has passed away at 70, leaving behind a legacy that will never be forgotten. The news came to light through a heartfelt Instagram post shared by his devoted sons TJ, Taj, and Taryll late Sunday evening.
“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson is no longer with us,” the post read.
“We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being. Some of you may know him as Tito Jackson from the legendary Jackson 5, some may know him as ‘Coach Tito’ or some know him as ‘Poppa T.’ Nevertheless, he will be missed tremendously. It will forever be ‘Tito Time’ for us,” the post continued.
“Please remember to do what our father always preached and that is ‘Love One Another.’ We love you Pops,” they concluded.
Tito Jackson was an indelible part of American music history. As the third of nine children born to Joe and Katherine Jackson, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 as a vital member of the Jackson 5. This iconic family group captivated the nation in the 1970s with chart-topping hits like “ABC,” “I Want You Back,” and “I’ll Be There.”
Tito, along with his brothers Jackie and Marlon, have kept the legacy alive, performing as The Jacksons. They were scheduled for upcoming concerts on October 25 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and November 1 in Cincinnati, Ohio, events that will now carry a somber note.
Jackson’s death was reported on Sunday by Entertainment Tonight.
In these increasingly polarized times, it’s important to remember Tito Jackson’s timeless message of love and unity. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, fans, and all those who find solace in his enduring contributions to music and culture.
