January 1, Acclaimed Singer and Actor Arrested : Sobriety Tests Failed, Breathalyzer Refused – Details Inside

Justin Timberlake faced a DWI arrest on June 18 while driving down Madison Street in the Hamptons. The 43-year-old singer was pulled over by authorities after failing to make a stop and stay in his lane.

According to police documents, Timberlake “performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.” The *NSYNC member claimed he only had one martini and was following friends home.

However, the arresting officer noted Timberlake’s eyes were “bloodshot and glossy,” his breath had a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage,” and he exhibited “slowed speech” and was “unsteady afoot.”

Upon arrest, Timberlake refused a breathalyzer test, which could “complicate” his legal proceedings, according to legal expert Tray Gober. Refusal of a breathalyzer test may lead to an automatic suspension of a driver’s license under implied consent laws.

Legal opinions on whether refusing a breathalyzer test is beneficial are split. Michael Huff, a celebrity criminal defense lawyer, called Timberlake’s decision a “smart choice” that helps “safeguard his constitutional rights to Due Process under the law.”

Timberlake was arraigned on June 22 and charged with one count of driving while intoxicated, plus citations for failure to keep right and failure to stop at a stop sign. He is expected to appear virtually for his first court hearing on July 26.
