Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Madam Peng Liyuan, have departed from Washington, D.C., after their 3-day state visit hosted by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

President Trump used the occasion to send a clear message about America’s renewed strength on the world stage. The two leaders met behind closed doors for hours, focusing on trade imbalances, supply-chain security, and regional stability in Asia.

White House officials described the tone as productive and businesslike, with both sides agreeing to keep talking.

“Much has been, and will be, accomplished,” President Trump said as he saw the Chinese delegation off.

Behind the scenes, American negotiators pressed Beijing on long-standing issues like forced technology transfers and unfair subsidies to state-owned companies. Farmers and manufacturers in the Midwest are watching closely, hoping any agreement will open doors for U.S. exports.
