Wyatt’s Take

  • Ilhan Omar posted a video set to lyrics about making enemies suffer and cry
  • The song choice raises questions about her loyalty to American values
  • Her actions continue to fuel concerns about radical influences in Congress

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) posted a video Friday of herself walking beside a Minnesota lake with her husband, set to a Somali song the lyrics of which describe humiliating enemies and making them “suffer and cry,” according to a translation obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

The video shows the congresswoman strolling casually along the shoreline in what appears to be a relaxed setting. The choice of music has drawn attention from critics who question the message behind the lyrics.

“No Enemy Dares to Threaten Me”

Translation of the Somali lyrics suggests the song celebrates dominating opponents and causing them distress. Critics say the posting of such content by a sitting member of Congress is deeply troubling.

The video comes amid ongoing debates about Omar’s representation of American interests in the House of Representatives. Many voters in her district and across the country have expressed concerns about her priorities.

Wyatt Matters

Middle America expects elected officials to put our country first and reject foreign ideologies that clash with our values. When politicians embrace messages of revenge and domination, it shows a disconnect from the people they were elected to serve.
