A federal agent has been charged with fraud after allegedly collecting disability payments while actively hiking through the Dolomites in northern Italy.
Prosecutors say the agent submitted false medical claims that kept him on paid leave for months.
"These cases erode public trust in law enforcement and waste hard-earned taxpayer dollars," said the U.S. Attorney handling the matter.
Investigators obtained photos and travel records showing the agent traversing steep alpine trails during the same period he claimed he could barely walk.
Disability fraud remains one of the fastest-growing crimes inside federal agencies according to internal watchdog reports.
"If you’re healthy enough to hike the Dolomites, you’re healthy enough to report for duty," a senior investigator noted.
The case is still moving through federal court with sentencing expected later this year.

It’s easy for someone who works in the system to game the system. I am truly handicapped, an amputee who can’t work, and it took me 3 years to get any kind of assistance. The fraud runs rampant in this country. The democrats are getting out of control seeing how they are the ones who foster the fraud in America. California, Minnesota, Washington state and DC, and the list goes on. This is how the democrats in blue states have been padding their sinking budgets to try and hide the corruption and incompetence of their state governments!

I used to be furious when I read stories like this but now I’m relieved that it’s a real US citizen and not one of the tens of thousands of illegals that were automatically classified as disabled ..along with all the benefits associated with that status…by the Biden administration.
Thank GOD for DOGE! When they put an end to the demonrat slush fund usAid, the head of the snake fell off. No wonder they screamed so loud when it was gone! The charities it was supposed to help got pittance while the dems raked in billions.
And keep sending all those thieves back to where they came from. They cheer, wave their country’s flag and brag about how great it is, so they shouldn’t be upset when ICE knocks on their doors with a one-way ticket home for each of them! Go ICE!
