January 1, DOJ Chief Won’t Rule Out Stepping In If Election Chaos Erupts

Wyatt’s Take
- Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche made it clear the Justice Department won’t sit by if noncitizens try to cast ballots
- Democrats are already screaming about stolen elections while refusing to clean up voter rolls
- President Trump warned for years that only American citizens should decide American elections
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche refused to rule out whether the Department of Justice could step in during state election certifications if a “doomsday scenario” arises.
Speaking to reporters in Virginia, Blanche said he has no intention of improperly interfering with elections.
“Of course there’s scenarios that we can all come up with hypothetically, you know, some doomsday scenario, for example, right?” he said. “So, I don’t think it’s proper to make any kind of conclusory statements about what’s going to happen in the future, because I have no idea what’s happening in the future.”
Blanche would not promise the DOJ would never get involved.
“Of course, I’m not going to say that,” he said. “But am I planning my days around the election to be somewhere to not certify? Of course not, no, not at all.”
The Constitution keeps elections under state control. Federal law mainly lets the Justice Department protect civil rights and prosecute clear violations.
Blanche faced questions about lawsuits demanding voter data from states and efforts to stop counting ballots from people the government believes are not citizens.
“I’m not trying to not have an election certified. Of course not,” Blanche said. “What we’re trying to do is guarantee to the American people that the only people that are voting are people that are eligible to vote.”
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., claimed Democrats have been preparing for months.
“As Trump and his cronies attempt to steal this election, we are fighting them at every turn,” Schumer posted on X. “Our elections must always belong to the voters — not Donald Trump.”
The administration recently sued California officials after they failed to review about 20,000 names flagged as likely noncitizens.
A federal judge temporarily blocked some DOJ field work in nine states through Election Day.
President Donald Trump has long warned that noncitizen voting threatens election integrity, even though documented cases remain rare.
Wyatt Matters
Heartland families want one simple rule: only American citizens decide who runs America. Anything less is an attack on the right to self-government that generations of working people fought to protect.
