January 1, Biden DOJ Memo Exposed Silencing Parents at School Board Meetings

Wyatt’s Take
- The Biden administration turned parents into targets for daring to speak up at school board meetings.
- Internal documents show federal agents were tasked with labeling concerned moms and dads as domestic threats.
- Trump and conservatives warned this was coming, and the evidence keeps proving them right.
The Department of Justice admitted it used a controversial memo to pressure local police into treating protesting parents like potential terrorists.
School board meetings across the country turned into battlegrounds after parents pushed back against mask mandates, critical race theory, and explicit books in elementary libraries.
Five years ago, Attorney General Merrick Garland issued an infamous memorandum at the urging of the National School Boards Association and White House officials, directing the FBI and United States Attorneys to consider looking for a federal hook to prosecute parents exercising their right to free speech. Today, we are releasing the “Report to Expose the Weaponization of Government Against Parents in Schools” which details Weaponization of the Department against these parents — from attempting to get the National Security Division involved to ignoring repeated warnings from employees that leadership’s actions could be unconstitutional. Along with the report, we’ve released hundreds of exhibits and emails that make official and verify what many Americans had guessed: the Garland DOJ worked hand in hand with WH officials and the National School Boards Association to chill free speech and parental rights while they threatened to prosecute parents and label them domestic terrorists. “The memo created a chilling effect on parents who simply wanted to protect their kids,” one lawmaker stated during recent hearings.
Internal emails revealed the FBI opened investigations on families based solely on their attendance at these meetings.
“We were told to treat concerned parents as domestic violent extremists,” a former agent testified.
Critics say the policy came straight from the White House after the National School Boards Association sent a letter comparing parents to domestic terrorists.
The memo was later walked back, but not before dozens of parents faced federal scrutiny for exercising their First Amendment rights.
“This was never about safety. It was about shutting people up,” a Virginia parent said after being placed on a watch list.
Documents obtained through lawsuits show the Biden Justice Department coordinated with local districts to flag outspoken families.
“My only crime was asking why my third grader was being shown gender videos without my permission,” one mother testified.
Wyatt Matters
Middle America parents expect to have a voice in their children’s education without fear of federal retaliation. When government power is used to silence everyday citizens, it threatens the very foundation of local control and family authority that built this country.
