January 1, Trump Unleashes ICE On Sanctuary California

Wyatt’s Take
- Trump is delivering on his promise to secure the border by taking the fight straight to sanctuary states that refuse to cooperate.
- Over 250 ICE officers have been sent to California to enforce federal law after local officials ignored immigration violations.
- The operation shows Democrats’ sanctuary policies are crumbling under real enforcement pressure.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has sent officers from across the country to California for a major 45-day deportation push. The operation targets illegal immigrants in the sanctuary state, even if they have no criminal record.
More than 250 ICE agents arrived in Southern California in recent days. Homeland Security sources say the goal is to go after anyone in the country illegally, regardless of past offenses.
One source called it “all hands on deck” and explained why California was chosen. Sanctuary rules there stop local jails from handing illegal immigrants over to federal agents.
The operation started in San Diego and is now running in Los Angeles County. It is expected to spread across the entire state as the raids continue.
A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said ICE will not discuss active law enforcement operations. The agency wants to protect officer safety and keep operations secure.
“Every day, DHS enforces the laws of the nation across the country including in California,” the spokesperson said.
“ICE will not disclose or discuss law enforcement operations,” the spokesperson added, citing operational security.
Before the raids began, ICE asked offices nationwide for volunteers to help in California. The push comes after earlier orders that tried to limit arrests to criminals only.
Those earlier restrictions were quickly reversed once public pressure grew. Officers now have the green light to arrest illegal immigrants no matter their criminal history.
ICE also sent new rules about traffic stops. Officers must complete special training before pulling anyone over.
The new memo makes clear that agents cannot chase vehicles that refuse to stop. Officers are told to gather vehicle information and investigate later instead.
“Under no circumstances are ERO officers authorized to engage in vehicle pursuits or vehicle maneuvers for vehicles that fail to pull over,” the order stated.
“Instead, as instructed in the Fugitive Operations Handbook, officers should obtain accurate vehicle information, including vehicle and occupant information, and direction of travel, for further investigation,” it added.
Sources inside DHS say agents are working six or seven days a week to increase arrests before the November midterms.
Wyatt Matters
Middle America knows that laws only work when they are enforced everywhere, not just in states that agree with them. When sanctuary cities shield lawbreakers, the burden falls on working families who pay the price in higher crime and strained services.
