A short video of Israel’s U.N. ambassador offering a Starlink device to an Iranian delegate has exploded online.

The clip has racked up millions of views and nearly 40 percent of the Instagram audience came from inside Iran.

“We couldn’t imagine to be the popular,” the Israeli representative said about the reach inside the country.

The encounter followed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s U.N. speech, where he held up a Starlink device and spoke directly to the Iranian people.

After the speech, Ambassador Danny Danon approached an Iranian representative with the device, but the offer was turned down.

Danon posted the exchange on social media and the footage quickly spread across multiple platforms.

Instagram analytics showed the largest single group of viewers, 39.9 percent, were located in Iran.

The United States came in second at 14.3 percent, followed by Israel at 12.6 percent.

The representative said the office saw the Iranian viewership as meaningful because the offer carried a message of freedom and open communication.

Soon after, accounts believed to be Iranian began sharing a years-old clip of former Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan being escorted from the chamber.

The old video, from September 2023, was presented as a current event to muddy the story.

Danon’s office called the move a “disinformation campaign” meant to shift attention away from the Starlink offer.

“From our perspective, the Danon video moved something in Iran,” the representative said, adding that the regime was trying to “change the story.”
