Wyatt’s Take

  • Federal officials identified another 17,000 possible noncitizen voter records in California after the first batch raised alarms.
  • Los Angeles County claims many names on the initial list were American-born citizens, but federal investigators are still checking the data.
  • States must clean up voter rolls before the next election to protect the integrity of the ballot box.

A Homeland Security official told a federal court the government has identified a second batch of California voter records potentially tied to noncitizens, while Los Angeles County officials said a sample of the first list included many people born in the United States.

Los Angeles County officials are pushing back against the federal findings, arguing that many of the flagged names belong to U.S.-born citizens. They claim the data matching process may have produced errors.

Yet the Homeland Security team maintains that the second batch of records shows clear patterns of noncitizen registration that require further investigation. The agency is working with state election officials to verify the information.

Election integrity advocates say the findings prove long-standing concerns about weak voter roll maintenance in sanctuary jurisdictions. They argue that every state must routinely cross-check voter databases with immigration records.

Wyatt Matters

Middle America expects clean voter rolls and honest elections. When federal investigators keep turning up noncitizen registrations, it only confirms that Washington must enforce the rules and protect the vote.
