January 1, Federal Judge BLOCKS ICE From Making Arrests — Leftist Lawfare Targets Trump Deportation

Wyatt’s Take

  • A New York judge just handed sanctuary city activists a major win, barring ICE from most arrests at immigration courts across NYC
  • The ruling comes after leftist groups filed lawsuits to shield illegal aliens from federal enforcement — even at the courthouse door
  • This is exactly the kind of judicial sabotage that makes it nearly impossible to enforce immigration law and protect American communities

A federal judge in New York City has delivered a crushing blow to immigration enforcement, blocking ICE agents from making most arrests at immigration courts throughout the city. The decision follows coordinated legal action from multiple activist organizations determined to undermine deportation efforts.

The ruling severely restricts Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations at the very locations where immigration cases are adjudicated. Now, illegal aliens with active deportation proceedings can show up to court knowing federal agents have been handcuffed by judicial decree.

“This decision creates dangerous sanctuary zones right where immigration law is supposed to be enforced,” one immigration enforcement advocate explained. “It’s lawfare, plain and simple — using the courts to override federal authority and protect people who broke our laws to get here.”

The lawsuit was brought by several left-wing organizations that have made it their mission to obstruct deportation enforcement. They argued that ICE presence at courthouses has a “chilling effect” on illegal aliens seeking legal representation or showing up for hearings.

But critics say that’s exactly backward. Immigration courts exist to process cases and execute the law — not to serve as safe havens for those evading deportation orders.

The ruling comes as the Trump administration has ramped up interior enforcement nationwide. ICE has dramatically increased worksite raids, sanctuary city operations, and courthouse arrests as part of a broader effort to restore immigration law and order.

Activist groups have responded with an all-out legal assault in friendly jurisdictions like New York, hoping sympathetic judges will tie the hands of federal enforcement. And in this case, they succeeded.

“What we’re seeing is a two-tiered system,” said one former ICE official. “In red states, we can do our jobs. In blue cities, judges and local politicians create obstruction at every turn — even when it means protecting violent criminals and repeat border crossers.”

New York City has long been a hub of sanctuary policies, with local officials refusing to cooperate with ICE detainers and警告 illegal aliens about pending raids. This latest court ruling takes that defiance to a new level, creating legal cover for non-cooperation.

The decision affects all five boroughs and applies to immigration courts where thousands of cases are heard each year. ICE agents will now face severe restrictions on when and where they can execute arrest warrants — even for individuals with final deportation orders.

Legal experts say the ruling is likely to be appealed, and could eventually make its way to higher courts. But in the meantime, it hands a major tactical victory to open-borders advocates and creates a significant enforcement gap in one of America’s largest cities.

Why It Matters

This isn’t just about New York. It’s about whether activist judges in sanctuary cities can unilaterally create zones where federal immigration law doesn’t apply. Every ruling like this makes it harder to secure the border, enforce deportations, and protect American workers and communities. When courts start shielding illegal aliens from lawful arrest at the very buildings where immigration cases are decided, we’ve lost control of our own sovereignty.

Curious why “ 警告” (which is Chinese for “warn”) appears in the text.
    From the article”
“New York City has long been a hub of sanctuary policies, with local officials refusing to cooperate with ICE detainers and警告 illegal aliens about pending raids”.

Why is this article protecting the Judge’s name? If a Judge is making a call outside the law, their name should be published. The judges that do this should be put in jail!

Quite right! If you were going to court fully expecting due process and see others doing the same are arrested, would you show up?
Trump said he would go after violent criminals. He is going after otherwise law abiding people. People who are going to renew/ extend residency or plea for asylum. If a person supports him, their drug offenses are overlooked. He is just as ‘woke’ as long as it benefits him.
At least the justice department is equally supporting people.

Any one who entered the USA illegally or has broken our laws while here “legally” is a criminal. If they are at Immigration Court they are receiving “due process” and if deportation is what is their determination then it means that must leave/deport out of America. Yes, Trump wants the violent criminals out first but if ICE comes across any illegals they have the power to arrest and take them in and deport them. Any illegal or law breaker even if here legally is a criminal and subject to deportation.

No blow at all to deportations. Might be that some jurists have not read immigration law or recent SC decisions. It will be over ruled and the judges should be sanctioned. This lawfare is costing the Country money. And part of the sanctions should be fines hefty enough to pay back the cost of the problems they have caused by delaying the law being enforced. That actually is chargeable under immigration law!!! And in most cases the law states “ANY PERSON”!

Build a wall around NYC to keep all the illegals in.
