January 1, Democratic Senate Candidate’s Marriage Scandal EXPLODES: Wife Reveals Shocking Texts

Wyatt’s Take
- Far-left Maine Democrat caught sending explicit texts to multiple women just months after getting married—wife told campaign staffers before Bernie Sanders rally
- Despite tattoo resembling Nazi symbol, vile Reddit posts mocking wounded soldiers and sexual assault, and now this adultery scandal, Platner somehow leads Susan Collins by 9 points in latest polls

Graham Platner, the Bernie Sanders-backed Democrat trying to unseat Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins, exchanged sexually explicit text messages with multiple women after marrying his wife just two years ago. His wife, Amy Gertner, discovered the messages months after their 2024 wedding and told a campaign aide about them before Platner’s high-profile campaign rally with Senator Bernie Sanders last year.
The campaign confirmed the bombshell revelation after the Wall Street Journal broke the story. The aide who learned about the texts decided they were a “private matter” for the couple and kept quiet—even as Platner continued campaigning with backing from national Democrats.
Gertner released a statement defending her husband and blaming a former friend for spreading “malicious gossip” about their marriage troubles:
“I confided deeply personal details about my marriage to someone I considered a friend. In the months since, I have had to watch as she spread malicious gossip to anyone who would take her call. I trusted this person with the most private chapter of our lives — the early days of our marriage before any campaign was on our mind — and I am deeply hurt by her betrayal and the invasion of our privacy.”
She added that the couple worked through their problems with counseling:
“Did the hard work that marriage requires. We went to counseling. We were honest with each other in ways that weren’t easy. And we came through it, not in spite of how much we’ve been through, but because of how much we love each other and the life we’ve built. Our marriage today is stronger than ever before.”
Gertner defended her husband, saying:
“I know who Graham is. I know the man I married and the husband he has been to me on the best and the worst days of my life. That hasn’t changed, and it won’t.”
The explicit texts scandal is just the latest controversy dogging the Afghanistan and Iraq war veteran turned oyster farmer. Platner previously faced backlash over a since-removed tattoo resembling a Nazi symbol and disturbing Reddit posts where he minimized sexual assault, made crude remarks about masturbation, boasted about foreign prostitutes, and wrote that a wounded American soldier “didn’t deserve to live.”
Despite this mounting list of scandals, a recent University of New Hampshire poll showed Platner holding a staggering 51% to 42% lead over Collins among likely Maine voters. Platner became the presumptive Democratic nominee after Maine Governor Janet Mills dropped out of the race in April.
California Congressman Ro Khanna doubled down on his support for the embattled candidate Saturday, posting on X:
“I am proud of @grahamformaine for having the character to stand up against the war in Iran, against genocide, and against an unfair & lopsided economy. I am proud of him for having a vision for a new deal for our time. Excited to campaign with him June 5!”
Senator Collins has called Platner too extreme for Maine voters:
“I believe that will be the conclusion of Maine voters. But, obviously, I don’t take anything for granted.”
Platner fired back in a recent interview, arguing:
“What’s radical is somebody like Susan Collins, who, for decades now, has made sure that we pass policies that are going to help corporations and billionaires to the detriment of working people, supporting over and over and over again, illegal and insane foreign wars.”
Wyatt Matters
Working families in Maine deserve better than a candidate who can’t keep his marriage vows or his crude opinions off the internet. While coastal elites from California fly in to prop up this scandal-ridden campaign, hardworking Mainers understand that character matters—especially when someone’s asking for your vote to represent you in Washington. Susan Collins has served Maine for decades with dignity. The choice couldn’t be clearer.

Sounds to me like someone who would fit into congress quite nicely. Which, by the way, is something we do not need!
