January 1, Asian Immigrant Faces Jail After Defending Himself – And Americans Are Taking Notice

Wyatt’s Take
- A Queens man is facing serious prison time for defending himself during a violent robbery – and the parallels to the Daniel Penny case are impossible to ignore
- Everyday Americans are increasingly forced to choose between their safety and draconian prosecution by soft-on-crime district attorneys
- This case exposes how self-defense has become criminalized while career criminals walk free under woke justice policies
Another day, another hardworking American facing jail time for refusing to be a victim. This time it’s a Queens man – an Asian immigrant who dared to fight back during a violent robbery attempt.
The details are chilling. A law-abiding citizen minding his own business. A violent criminal targeting him. A split-second decision to defend himself rather than submit. And now? He’s staring down years behind bars while the justice system twists itself into knots to prosecute him instead of the actual criminal.
Sound familiar? It should. This is the Daniel Penny playbook all over again – only this time the victim of prosecutorial overreach happens to be Asian.
The message from blue-state prosecutors couldn’t be clearer: comply with criminals or face consequences worse than the criminals themselves. Fight back and you become the problem. Defend your life and you’re the one who gets charged.
Working Americans across the country are watching these cases pile up. They’re watching district attorneys bend over backward to protect criminals while criminalizing self-defense. They’re watching the justice system abandon them.
And they’re drawing their own conclusions about what it takes to stay safe when the government won’t do its job.
From New York to California, prosecutors have turned the concept of self-defense on its head. Violent offenders get released without bail. Repeat criminals rack up dozens of arrests without consequences. But God help you if you dare to protect yourself when one of these career criminals targets you.
The Asian community has been particularly hard-hit by this insanity. Violent attacks against Asian Americans skyrocketed during the pandemic and haven’t stopped. Yet when victims fight back, suddenly the full weight of the justice system comes down on them.
This isn’t justice. It’s a protection racket run by progressive prosecutors more interested in social engineering than public safety.
The parallels to Daniel Penny are impossible to ignore. A man steps up when violence erupts. A man refuses to be paralyzed by fear while others are threatened. A man takes action to protect himself and those around him. And the system punishes him for it.
Both cases send the same chilling message: you’re on your own, but don’t you dare act like it.
Americans are tired of being told to be passive victims. They’re tired of watching criminals get more rights than law-abiding citizens. They’re tired of prosecutors who treat self-defense as a greater crime than robbery, assault, or murder.
So what happens when the social contract breaks down this completely? When the government not only fails to protect you but actively punishes you for protecting yourself?
People start taking matters into their own hands. Not because they want to. Because they have no other choice.
That’s not vigilantism. That’s survival. And it’s what happens when the justice system becomes so corrupted by ideology that it abandons its most basic function: protecting the innocent from the guilty.
The elites won’t admit it, but they’ve created this situation. Every slap-on-the-wrist sentence for a violent criminal. Every bail reform policy that puts predators back on the street. Every prosecution of someone who dared to defend themselves. It all adds up.
And now they’re shocked – shocked! – that Americans are losing faith in a system that has lost all common sense.
The Queens case and the Daniel Penny case aren’t isolated incidents. They’re symptoms of a justice system that has completely inverted right and wrong. A system where criminals are victims and victims are criminals. Where defending yourself is treated as a greater offense than attacking someone.
This madness can’t continue. Eventually, the gap between what the law allows and what safety requires becomes too wide to bridge. Eventually, people decide that survival trumps compliance with a broken system.
We’re getting dangerously close to that point. And the prosecutors pushing these cases seem oblivious to the powder keg they’re sitting on.
Why It Matters
When the justice system punishes self-defense and coddles criminals, it forces regular folks to make an impossible choice: be a victim or risk everything to protect yourself. That’s not the America our founders envisioned, and it’s not the America working families deserve. The social contract only works when both sides hold up their end – and right now, only one side is keeping its promises.

I’d still rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6. Depending on the situation, for example, home invasion where a ‘castle doctrine’ would protect you, make sure you finish the job so the perp can’t wind up suing you for damages.

The Estate Of will still come after you – however if you “finish the job” at least the perp can’t lie about what really happened!

Whoa, what? I thought Democrats love immigrants??
Oh wait, they only love the illegal immigrants who commit fraud, rape women and children, and commit crimes.

If this story is about the 14 year old black kid who was supposedly shoplifting a bottle of water when the son of the owner of the store accused him of shoplifting, the kid left, the owner and his son chased the kid after he left, the kid supposedly had a gun and aimed it at the owner and his son and the owner shot the kid in the back then there are plenty of questions. The first one I have is why did the owner and his son chase the kid after he left the store with no water or anything else and, why did the owner have a gun during the chase when no gun was used to “rob” the store. Also, from what I read in the other article the Asian was found not guilty by a grand jury and the case won’t even go to court. So what’s this story about?
