The far-left is eating its own — and this time, even Democratic leaders can’t look away. Anti-Israel journalist Rula Jebreal launched into a racist tirade against House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, calling the Black congressman an “AIPAC monkey” during a podcast appearance this week.

The shocking slur came during Jebreal’s interview on “The Left Hook” podcast hosted by Wajahat Ali, another progressive activist known for his anti-Israel views. Jebreal was attacking Jeffries for his support of Israel when she crossed a line even her allies couldn’t defend.

“His name is Hakeem. ‘Hakeem’ is an Arabic name which means ‘healer.’ He’s not a healer, he’s a divider.”

“He is a bought and paid by AIPAC monkey. With all due respect — and I don’t mean it in a racist way. He is just basically an errand boy, and we’re done and tired.”

The podcast host immediately tried to do damage control, pointing out the obvious racial implications. But Jebreal doubled down, claiming she was referring to the “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” monkeys — a defense that fooled absolutely no one.

“I didn’t. There’s these three monkeys — one, I cannot hear, I cannot see, I cannot speak – it reminds me of these three monkeys.”

The Congressional Black Caucus wasn’t buying it. In a rare moment of clarity, the group issued a statement calling out the blatant racism — even when it came from the progressive left.

“To be clear, there isn’t a non-racist way to call Leader Jeffries — a Black man — a ‘monkey’ or ‘errand boy.'”

The CBC then delivered a stinging rebuke to the entire progressive ecosystem that platforms this kind of hatred. They pointed directly at podcast host Wajahat Ali and the low standards that allow openly bigoted rhetoric to flourish.

“This is what happens when we hold ourselves to such low standards for what’s allowable in our discourse — people get comfortable being openly bigoted. We have to stop platforming and trafficking in anti-Black racism, whether it’s on the political right or the left.”

Several Democratic lawmakers piled on, recognizing they couldn’t stay silent this time. Rep. Joe Neguse of Colorado kept it simple.

“Blatantly racist and offensive rhetoric — it should be condemned by everyone, across the political spectrum. Period.”

Rep. Ritchie Torres of New York went further, calling out the double standard that protects far-left activists from the same scrutiny conservatives face.

“Calling a Black man a ‘monkey’ is racist. Full stop.”

“If Wajahat Ali and Rula Jebreal were on the far right, no one on the far left would have any trouble condemning them for dehumanizing a Black man in racist terms. The silence is deafening.”

After the clip went viral, Jebreal posted what might be the worst apology in recent memory. She spent the first half of her statement attacking Jeffries and Israel before tossing in a half-hearted “sorry” at the end.

“I am disgusted and horrified that Hakeem Jeffries is taking money from AIPAC amidst Israel’s genocide in Palestine. That said, a term that I used to describe him was inappropriate and offensive and should never have been used. I apologize unconditionally.”

PR expert Jason Mudd, CEO of Axia Public Relations, wasn’t impressed with Jebreal’s damage control attempt.

“She reasserts the accusation first and tucks the apology at the end. That’s not confessing, that’s a closing argument with ‘sorry’ bolted on.”

“The podcast clarification and the written apology target two different audiences: one tried to survive the moment live, the other tried to survive the headline.”

Neither Jebreal nor Jeffries responded to requests for comment. But the damage is done — and Democrats are finally being forced to confront the racist, antisemitic extremism that’s taken root in their progressive base.

For years, conservatives have warned that the Democratic Party’s embrace of radical anti-Israel activists would unleash ugly hatred. Now that hatred is turning inward, targeting even their own leaders. When your movement becomes so consumed by rage that you start attacking people based on their race, you’ve lost the moral high ground. Middle America sees right through the phony apologies — this is who the far-left really is when the mask slips.
