January 1, Why Trump’s Ex-Chief of Staff Thinks He Won’t Run Again in 2024
John Kelly, former President Donald Trump’s longest-serving White House chief of staff, doesn’t think he’ll enter the 2024 race.
“Trump won’t run,” Kelly said. “He’ll continue talking about it; he may even declare, but he will not run. And the reason is he simply cannot be seen as a loser.”
Kelly, a former Homeland Security secretary who served as Trump’s chief of staff for a year and a half, has been relatively quiet since leaving his post in 2019.
While the former commander in chief has hinted that he’s planning on a 2024 bid, some GOP officials are skeptical that it will happen.
Still, The Hill noted that other potential Republican nominees, like former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, have said they’ll refrain from tossing their hat in the ring if Trump does decide to run again.
