Wyatt’s Take

  • North Carolina beat Duke in a dramatic showdown that ended with two court storms.
  • Officials put time back on the clock, making fans clear the floor before the final seconds.
  • UNC faces a hefty fine for breaking court-storming rules, but fans got their big win.

North Carolina won a wild one against Duke Saturday night, after a last-second three-pointer made everyone think the game was over.

“Jump Around” blasted in Chapel Hill while thousands of fans rushed the court, even though officials decided to put 0.4 seconds back on the clock after reviewing the play.

Fans had to get off the floor, and cleanup crews worked fast to wipe up spills before play resumed.

When Duke couldn’t get a final shot off, UNC’s victory was sealed—the second court storm came right after.

It was the Tar Heels’ biggest comeback over Duke since 2001, after trailing by 13 points, and their first win against their rival since March 2024.

The ACC will fine the school at least $50,000 for the celebration, which doubles if it happens again.

Fans stormed the floor twice, but no one in light blue cared—the home team moved to 19-4 and left Duke with their second loss all year.

These two teams meet again at Cameron Indoor Stadium on March 7.
